UGLE at the Pride Parade 2023

UGLE participates in the Pride Parade 2023 in London

The United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE) is thrilled to participate in the London Pride Parade 2023.

On Saturday, July 1st, we will proudly march alongside, the Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF), the Order of Women Freemasons (OWF), and the Honourable Fraternity of Ancient Freemasons (HFAF), to reinforce our unwavering commitment to inclusivity.

By supporting London Pride 2023, we aim to shine a light on the inclusivity that lies at the very heart of Freemasonry.

To raise awareness about our commitment to diversity, we invite you to read a testimonial below from a valued member of our community, sharing how Freemasonry has empowered them to embrace their true self.

How an openly gay Freemason was ‘instilled’ with the power to be himself Inclusivity and Freemasonry

One of the foundations of Freemasonry is inclusivity and equality and UGLE works hard to ensure members’ of all backgrounds are supported and represented. We sat down with Mitch Bryan, 32, to discuss how he has found being an openly gay Freemason.

About UGLE

United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE) is the governing body of Freemasonry in England, Wales, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man and Districts overseas.

  • We are a unique members’ organisation that has thrived for over 300 years.
  • Having no political or religious affiliations, we comprise members of all ages, races, religions, cultures and backgrounds.
  • We meet in our individual Lodges throughout the country where we have ceremonial traditions which encourage us both to be more tolerant and respectful and actively to fulfil our civic and charitable responsibilities; we also make time to eat, drink and meet together, and form lifelong friendships.
  • We inspire and challenge our members to practise the core values we celebrate – Integrity, Friendship, Respect, Charity – in their private and public lives.
Mitch Bryan
"As a fraternity, we are very inclusive, and I feel our governing body, UGLE, continues to look for ways to include all men in an ever-changing world. By being open and educating those around me, I have been bowled over by the tangible support shown to me and many other gay Masons."

Women Freemasons

Women Freemasons have been meeting across the country for more than 100 years.

There are two female-only Grand Lodges: The Order of Women Freemasons and HFAF – Freemasonry for Women. They both follow exactly the same ceremonies and wear the same regalia as male Freemasons, and they often work closely with community and charity projects.

The United Grand Lodge of England has an excellent working relationship with both Grand Lodges.
