After raising over £20,000 through numerous fundraising endeavours, support from the Essex Freemasons Community Fund, and with ongoing support from Lodges and Chapters within the Cross Keys Masonic Centre, the CKCF now supports over 60 local schools, hospitals, care homes and community groups.
Due to their significant contributions, the local Freemasons have been nominated for and received the prestigious Mayoral Roll of Honour.
In her letter of notification, the Mayor confirmed :
"The Roll of Honour was launched to acknowledge those who contribute to our borough and to hold up those in business, community, charity and public services who serve our borough in extraordinary ways. Your fund has provided well-needed resources to care homes and community groups, supporting the local hospital NICU unit, as well as many more amazing contributions. The award acknowledges your outstanding community spirit."
A delighted CKCF Chairman Dave Barton added:
"This prestigious recognition is a testament to our unwavering dedication to engaging with the community and highlighting the true spirit of Freemasonry. Our efforts are making a meaningful impact and inspiring other Masonic centres to join us on this journey.
Our recent fundraising efforts have effectively raised awareness across the UK, and we are grateful for the recent articles featured in the local press and on the UGLE and Essex Freemasons websites, which have significantly contributed to this positive momentum."
The CKCF is gearing up for a busy festive season. They recently delivered a Christmas gift of 50 instruments to TIME Music Therapy, a local charity and community group that supports children and adults with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Additionally, they have organised a Brass Band Christmas Carol Concert for local care homes. Christmas arts and crafts competitions are also in progress with several local schools. Furthermore, the annual Christmas Party for vulnerable children in the area is scheduled to take place at the centre on Saturday, December 14th.
