On a recent afternoon at the Pademba Road office of the Thinking Pink Breast Cancer Foundation, St. George's Lodge, a Daughter Lodge of the District Grand Lodge of Sierra Leone and The Gambia Under the United Grand Lodge of England, made a significant charitable contribution.
With great pride, the Master of the Lodge, Percy Nicholason, presented a generous donation of Le10,000 to the foundation, which is dedicated to supporting individuals affected by breast cancer.
In his heartfelt statement during the presentation ceremony, Percy expressed his longstanding desire to support the foundation, emphasising the visibility of their challenges in securing adequate funding. He stressed the importance of community involvement in aiding organisations that provide crucial support to those in need. In a touching gesture, he invited Jabez Roger-Wright, who has personally battled cancer, to join him in making the presentation, thereby highlighting the human side of the fight against this illness.
The foundation's CEO, Mrs. Cremelda Pratt, graciously accepted the donation and expressed deep gratitude to St. George's Lodge. She conveyed hope that this contribution would mark the beginning of an ongoing partnership, allowing continued support for the vital work the foundation carries out in the country. Additionally, the Board Chair of the foundation, Dr Rodney Sandy, acknowledged the Lodge's commitment to charitable endeavours and the positive impact such support can have on the lives of those affected by breast cancer.
Ola Taylor, representing the District Grand Master, took the opportunity to elaborate on the Lodge's commitment to charity and community service. He underscored the significance of charitable acts, not only as a principle of Freemasonry but also as a vital part of fostering solidarity and support within the community. He assured the foundation of ongoing support from both the Lodge and the District Grand Lodge of Sierra Leone and the Gambia, reaffirming their dedication to promoting health and wellness through collaborative efforts.
