North Wales Freemasons donate £10,000 to DangerPoint

DangerPoint’s mission is to create ‘Resilient children, able to thrive’ by providing an inclusive and interactive life skills experience that immerses children in real-life situations in a fun and creative way.

Based in Talacre, an educational school trip to DangerPoint will develop skills that will help you make positive life choices and manage all kinds of risky situations.

The centre is set up like a film set to ensure a wide range of safety and life skills are covered, including Home Safety, Fire & Gas Safety, Sustainable Futures Building Site & Anti-bullying Equality, Diversity & Inclusivity Transport, Safety Farm, Countryside & Flood Awareness, Electricity Awareness, Beach & Road Safety and Internet & Shop Safety.

Increasing costs of transport have created a barrier for rural groups across North Wales. DangerPoint receives many phone calls from schools that understand the need to bring their pupils to receive the education provided. However, they can’t afford the entry or transport costs. This project will subsidise entry costs and provide subsidised transport for schools that would not be able to access this vital service without support.

Julie Ann Tyler, Centre Manager, said,

“DangerPoint would like to express our sincere appreciation to North Wales Freemasons for their generous donation of £10,000. This significant contribution will provide subsidised entry and transport for 430 children from North Wales to visit our fantastic interactive centre. A school trip to DangerPoint helps students develop essential skills for making positive life choices and managing risky situations effectively. We are excited about the positive changes this may bring and the lives it will touch. This is our first opportunity to collaborate with the Freemasons, and we look forward to further developing this new partnership.”

Head of North Wales Freemasons, John Charles Hoult, visited DangerPoint to present the donation, accompanied by Phil James, Chairman of North Wales Freemasons Charity (NWFC) and Trustees Paul Maddocks, Morgan Tudor and John Collister. £5,000 from NWFC was match funded by £5,000 from the Masonic Charitable Foundation.

On the 1st of April 2022, North Wales Freemasons launched their Festival 2028 Appeal with the aim of raising £2.5m in support of the Masonic Charitable Foundation by July 2028. During the AGM held at Venue Cymru, Llandudno, in October, John Charles Hoult congratulated members for reaching the magical milestone of £1million!

Freemasonry contributed £51.7m plus 18.5 million hours of volunteer work to deserving causes in 2023. Whether participating in events, fundraising for a charitable cause, or volunteering for public or community organisations, service is at the very heart of Freemasonry, with members making valuable contributions by donating time, resources and skills.
