On Saturday 2nd, July, Taunton School was the splendid venue for the much anticipated 'Party in the Park', organised by Somerset's Freemasons.
Originally planned to celebrate the very successful conclusion, in 2020, of Somerset’s Provincial Festival, the event had previously been cancelled twice due to the Covid pandemic.
During their 2020 Festival, a total of over £2.77 million was raised by the Brethren who belong to the Province’s 89 Lodges. Many different fundraising events and functions were held during the Festival period which received huge support from family and friends.
This incredible sum gave a much needed financial boost to many of Somerset’s local charities, as well as national and international ones too.
The Party was a huge success, where over 420 guests enjoyed a fantastic evening of great musical entertainment and food in the large marquee set up in the school’s beautiful grounds.
Somerset legends, The Wurzels, headlined the event, playing their individual style of West Country music which included all of their much loved hits.
The Party’s organiser, David Flack, said 'I am delighted that we have finally been able to hold the Party at Taunton School as intended. It was a great success. The atmosphere was amazing and was a fitting way to celebrate the fantastic amount raised for charity by Somerset’s Freemasons during their 2020 Festival.'
The Party concluded with the guests being escorted into the school grounds by a bagpiper where they were treated to a spectacular laser light show which was a memorable finale.
