Suffolk-based Old Framlinghamian’s Lodge - the Framlingham College Lodge - was delighted to announce a donation of another £5000 to the Bursary Campaign at their Installation Meeting held at the College in November. Mr Johnathan Egan, Head of the Prep, accepted the donation.

This continues a long-standing tradition of donations to the college by the Lodge, with a further £1500 donated to the Bursary Campaign in 2021 and a series of ongoing contributions ranging from several prizes for pupils on an annual basis and pro-active giving to the college appeals over its 75-year history.

Charity Steward Charles Binder was happy to assist with the handover, adding:

“In some respects, I have one of the easiest jobs in Suffolk because whenever they are asked to do so, our members always dig deep. This donation is very important given our connection to the college, but with the Suffolk Festival 2029 just around the corner, we are building up for a flying start, and there will be a substantial donation at our January meeting with more to come!"

One notable donation to the college was a donation of £712 to the Centenary Fund in 1965, equivalent to approximately £15000 in today’s money, with other subsequent donations to the 125th and 150th Anniversary Appeals in 1990 and 2015, respectively.

In return, the college has been happy to host the Lodge for their Installation Meeting each year, whilst other meetings during the rest of the year are spent travelling to other centres around Suffolk to ensure members can see other Lodge rooms around the Province.

Martin Myers-Allen, The College Development Director, commented:

“The Lodge became an official Campaign Ambassador one year ago and is held in high regard for the work that they do. They are a wonderful bunch, and we deeply appreciate their unwavering support and generosity to the Campaign and to the college in general.”

Additionally, in 1988, the Lodge also presented the college with a beautiful crucifix, which is now a permanent fixture in the Chapel extension, and a painting hanging above the Head of School’s desk. The Lodge also recently became a member of the Federation of School Lodges, which encourages cooperation and reciprocal visits between ‘old school’ lodges on a national basis.
