Chequered Flag Lodge

Lodge number: 9914

Close
Chequered Flag Lodge Logo
Biography:

“To establish a thriving and vibrant Lodge within the Masonic Province of Hampshire and Isle Of Wight for members who have a common interest in motorsport of any description”

The background for the formation of this Lodge is recognition that there are already in the Province of Hampshire and beyond many Brethren who are involved in some form of motor interest, whether it be sport, racing, rallying, marshalling or just watching. This would include cars, motorcycles, go-karts, planes and boats. This interest often involves these Brethren and their family and friends and invariably raises funds for nationwide as well as local community charities.

It is felt that by combining Freemasonry with a hobby involving the community and family will bring satisfaction to its members and promote the craft to a wider membership.

Members of “The Chequered Flag Lodge” would not need to have necessarily raced a motor vehicle to qualify for membership, but simply have been involved in motorsport in some way or have an interest. There are already Lodges that cater for motor cycle enthusiasts in the Province but “The Chequered Flag Lodge” will be unique in being the first to cater for all motor sport enthusiasts.

Coborn Lodge Logo
Biography:

Coborn Lodge is over 145 years old, and after a few meetings of only 3-5 members plus guests, it was decided to close the Lodge down. Still, a motorcyclist within Coborn had a friend who was in the Widows Sons Masonic Bikers Association, the Iceni Chapter. They were keen to open a Lodge, discussions were had, and it was agreed that the Widows Sons would join and do whatever to save it, which they have and are now thriving; it's gone from winter Tuesday nights to summer Saturday Mornings. Now over 50 members, soon to celebrate its 150 years.

Columbanus Lodge Logo
Biography:

The Lodge was consecrated on 20th May 2017 with the sponsors being Freemasons from the provinces of Somerset, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, and Wiltshire. Apart from Masonry, what drew them together was a love of motorcycling. The Lodge is peripatetic, meaning it meets mainly, but not exclusively, in the three Provinces by dispensations. Meetings, with the exception of Installation, are now held late morning to enable lunch and a lodge ride-out, weather permitting. Membership is not confined to motorcyclists and is open for all, provided the requirements in the Book of Constitutions are met, although the majority of Brethren still travel on two wheels.

Combined Services Lodge Logo
Biography:

The Combined Services Lodge is relatively new having been formed in 2014. We are considered a speciality Lodge with all of our members either serving now, or having served in the Military in some form or another. This bond makes our Lodge unique and provides a good basis for camaraderie, along with a little gentle inter-service rivalry.

Military ethos and camaraderie are closely aligned to the principles of Freemasonry, and our Lodge gives the opportunity to combine some military traditions into the normal Masonic fabric of a Lodge, which makes for unique and enjoyable experience. Our meetings are always fun and friendly, and we can assure prospective members of a warm welcome.

Communications Lodge Logo
Biography:

Formed in 2022 from the Duke of Connaught Lodge No 2961, Communications Lodge’s objective is not simply to be different for the sake of it, but to create a memorable and engaging environment within the Lodge. We aspire to foster meaningful conversations, showcase modern Lodge operations, and create a space conducive to effective communication and shared best practices. Looking ahead, discussions have centred around making the Lodge a hub for positive conversations around the 7-year strategy. We aim to invite a member of the steering group to our meetings for updates—a proposition that has received significant backing. Additionally, we intend to share valuable practices, discussing topics like creating a Lodge newsletter, community engagement, and strategies for attracting new members

Coronation Lodge

Lodge number: 2927

Coronation Lodge Logo
Biography:

The Lodge is founded on ‘Reflections of Truth’ and is strongly influenced by Worshipful Brother Wilmshurst and his approach to Freemasonry and the ‘return to the Centre.’  Wilmhurst’s Lodge, ‘The Lodge of the Living Stones,’ was formed in the 1920s in Yorkshire and is still operative, and the Coronation Lodge will adhere to similar principles with an arcane and esoteric view of Freemasonry and its rituals. The Lodge will explore the ‘hidden Mysteries of Nature and Science’ and into ‘that most interesting and necessary of human studies, the Knowledge of Oneself.’ We are honoured to have Brother Robert Lomas as the Lodge Mentor. We are happy to share our journey with any sincere Brother.

Cynan Lodge

Lodge number: 10013

Close
Cynan Lodge Logo
Biography:

Cyfrinfa Cynan (Cynan Lodge) was created following a keen interest within the North Wales Lodges in establishing a Lodge which could provide the opportunity of practicing Freemasonry through their mother tongue. All of the necessary ritual has by now been translated into Welsh and is used in all of it’s meetings.

The Lodge was consecrated on 20th January 2023 and since then has attracted two initiates with a third awaiting his initiation. It has also attracted a high number of joining members.

It is our hope that Cyfrinfa Cynan will attract those Welsh speakers which would otherwise not be willing to participate so readily through the medium of English. As well as attracting first language Welsh speakers the Lodge also encourages Welsh learners to join.

Dalhousie and Call Sign Lodge

Lodge number: 865

Close
Dalhousie and Call Sign Lodge Logo
Biography:

As you will see we have two Lodge names following the joining of the two Lodges in 2016. We was and still are to some extent a particular interest Lodge as ‘Call Sign’ Lodge was founded by Radio Amateurs (Ham’s). The very definitive logo of the Lodge will be fully appreciated by “radio hams,” and could be said to represent “the good earth” from which all freemasons are derived; “the antenna,” the implement or working tool that joins us together as one. The radio “signals” from the outside world remind us of our Lodge motto, “audi, vici, tace,” meaning “listen, observe, and be silent.” This is a good motto for a wise mason as the latter, “listen,” can sometimes prove very difficult!

Whilst the original concept of the Lodge was to allow “radio hams” to meet with their counterparts in peace and harmony, it also welcomes Initiates and joining members from all walks of life.

To-day we still have a number of licenced Radio Hams who are attached to the local radio club in Twickenham ‘Whitton Amateur Radio Club’ and we have operated an amateur station from Twickenham Masonic Centre, using an unusual radio call sign of GB0TMC (Twickenham Masonic Centre).

Biography:

Consecrated in 2023, the Derbyshire Motorcycle Chapter is experiencing rapid growth. We use the Savage Club Ritual, likely making us the only Chapter outside London to do so. All ceremonies thus far have been triple exaltations and will continue in this manner. Our festive board features a unique harmony style, with no seating plan and a single course, typically a hot/cold buffet on Saturdays and options like curry or lasagne with chips on Fridays.
